The Chronicle of House Oakdown

Oakdown_Sigil_Medium_Small.gifThis is a summary of the campaign events themselves. As we complete a scene or story, I will try to write a VERY brief summary, and set up the next scene. This will help others follow along, and provide a review for our story as we move forward.

REWARDS I will also include what xp/glory/coin rewards may have been included. As a general rule, I will be following the guidelines set forth in SIFRPG, with modifications as needed to fit our format. Rewards Table

Those modifications include, but are not limited to, the following:

Participation: If you post one time during a scene, you will get a reward for contributing. It may be a summary of a combat (i.e. Jeyne I), or an intrigue (i.e. Elyana I), or simply a narrative post in it’s own right. This reward will be solely XP to account for our format. This is outside of the traditional rewards outlined in the book. If you have completed a Dice Event, then your participation XP will be +1, as you will earn additional rewards based on that event. If there is no dice event, your base participation reward will be +2 XP.

Writing: This is what makes our format go. We rely on the narratives to help tell our story, since we have limited direct interaction. As long as you participate in a given scene through a character chapter, you will be awarded xp. In some cases, you may be awarded additional xp based on exceptional quality and/or quantity of your efforts. I want to be consistent, and this is not a game based on writing skill. The main point is participation. However, I want to make sure that those who put in the extra thought and time are recognized. These points will be listed as ‘Bonus XP’, and usually be +1, but no more than +2 for a scene.

Dice Events: This will include both combats and intrigues. One is not necessarily greater than the other. Characters are built differently, and within the scope of the game, I want to make sure all aspects of The Game of Thrones are covered. If you have engaged in a Dice Event during the scene, you will be awarded the typical amounts outlined in the book. If this is the case, your Participation will be a +1 XP point only- as your rewards will be covered primarily as a result of your dice event.

Collaboration on behalf of the Chronicle: In addition to your own efforts at moving your character forward through his/her story, there have been several volunteers to help with the creation of our Chronicle. This is a labor of love for me, and I thoroughly enjoy working on the game. However, I am not proud :) Offers to help have been gratefully accepted, and in turn, I will be providing a small xp reward as appreciation. Again, this XP is not intended to upset game balance. My goal is to award enough for those who are willing to help, but not be unfair to those who may not have time.

Examples of this Collaboration include (AND ARE LISTED BELOW):

Creation of the Oakdown Sigil: luckylass is working on this for us, and is now available to view on the Wiki, as well as below.

Creation of Significant NPC’s: mdent010 and Narayan both helped in the creation of our Maester and Lady Charlotte respectively

Creation of History and Backstory: If you just enjoy writing and would like to help enhance our history, take a look at our historical events from House Creation found here: History of House Oakdown: I am intending to delve into this further, and potentially beyond to House Southwynd, but the current campaign has taken precedence. Just let me know if this is something you might be interested in.

Other Contributions: The possibilities for other ways to help are pretty wide open. If you have a strength or skill, and an interest in creating something for us, let me know. I’m sure we can find a way to add it.

REWARDS (please let me know if I’ve missed someone here based on the above criteria)

Ingvar Dent XP +2 for creation of Maester Llewellyn
Ingvar Dent XP +1 for compiling House Dent
Mauro Drokhe XP +2 for creation of Oakdown, Charlotte
Ria Sand XP +1 for creation of Local folklore for Lonetree

Note: The minor combat that Ingvar and Andros took part in would be considered a ‘Glory’ event for our Chronicle. However, as it is a minor combat, two or three rewards will not provide any gain for ‘Glory’. Essentially, to earn Glory, the difficulty of the dice event must be moderate or greater. Just wanted to explain how the numbers shook out. Instead, per the rewards table found in the Rewards Table, they gained XP and Gold for supplies and coins that were confiscated- two separate rewards.

The First Story of House Oakdown Concludes

House Oakdown has marked the passing of the 16th year since the Hooded Uprising. The family remains intact, despite another treachery. This time, the treason comes from within their own house. The perpetrators are discovered, and on the run. Despite tensions that threaten open conflict, the uneasy peace with House Fowler is maintained.

A separate Story reward is given at the successful conclusion for all who have survived and furthered the cause of the House. In order to qualify for this Story reward, a character must have participated in more than half of the scenes that make up the Story.

While some small glory has been gained for Redgate, primarily disaster has been averted. An insurrection has been stifled, if not completely eliminated. A scion of House Oakdown has survived a trial at the hands of the Lords of Skyreach. As a result, the sole reward will be XP. In future stories, the reward may, and likely will, be divided as well with Glory and Coin.
